Les Gets, a charming Alpine village with a rich history, has transformed from a humble farming community into a thriving ski resort.

 

Its roots date back to the 11th century, when the region primarily revolved around agriculture and pastoral life. In the mid-20th century, the arrival of tourists seeking winter sports opportunities sparked the development of Les Gets into the vibrant ski destination it is today.

Getting to Les Gets is convenient, thanks to its proximity to Geneva Airport, which is approximately an hour's drive away. Additionally, Les Gets is well-connected to other ski resorts in the Portes du Soleil area, making it an ideal base for exploring the region.

Once you're in Les Gets, getting around is a breeze. The village is compact and pedestrian-friendly, with most amenities, restaurants, and ski lifts within walking distance. The ski resort operates a network of efficient chairlifts and cable cars that transport you to the slopes, and a free shuttle service offers easy access to various parts of the village. Whether you're strolling through the charming streets or using the well-organized transportation options, navigating Les Gets is simple, ensuring you make the most of your visit without any hassles.

Après ski

Activities

While Les Gets may be a tranquil alpine village by day, the après-ski scene comes alive with a handful of vibrant establishments to keep you entertained. Situated right on the pistes is L'ApreSki Bar boasting an open air bar, deck chairs and snowside seating plus live music on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The Black Bear Bar, affectionately known as the Canadian Bar, is a local favourite with an impressive selection of draft beers. Perched above the cozy Pub Irlandais, which boasts its own microbrewery, it's the perfect spot for a post-slope brew. Boomerang, where live music is a regular treat, is another popular choice.

 

For those seeking a touch of sophistication, L'Anka in the Hotel Marmotte offers delightful tapas to accompany your apéritif. And when the night is still young, L'Igloo nightclub beckons, providing the ideal venue to dance the night away.

How do I get Lift Passes?

Ski Pass

es Gets ski resort offers a variety of ski passes that provide access to different parts of the ski area. You can generally have a Les Gets-Morzine ski pass and Portes du Soleil ski pass. The Les Gets-Morzine pass covers the ski area of Les Gets and Morzine, which are interconnected, and provides access to 120km of slopes. 

 

The Portes du Soleil ski pass covers a larger ski area, including Les Gets, Morzine, and 11 other resorts both in France and across the border in Switzerland. It provides access to over 600km of slopes, making it a good choice for more advanced skiers and those who want to explore a wider range of terrain. 

You can buy lift passes online and collect them in resort or have them delivered, as well as at one of the ski pass offices
