Klausen Pass

Switzerland’s Klausen Pass is a breathtaking mountain road that winds through the heart of the Swiss Alps, connecting Altdorf in the canton of Uri to Linthal in the canton of Glarus. Known for its panoramic views, dramatic switchbacks, and charming alpine villages, this 47 km route is an unforgettable campervan journey. Along the way, travelers will discover historic landmarks, roaring waterfalls, and pristine hiking trails. With well-equipped and affordable campsites, this trip offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.

  1. Altdorf
    Start your journey in Altdorf, the historic town famous for the legend of William Tell. Wander through the picturesque streets, admire the Tell Monument, and visit the Tell Museum to learn about Switzerland’s national hero. The town also offers cozy cafés and bakeries where you can enjoy fresh Swiss pastries before hitting the road.
     

  2. BürglenJust a short drive from Altdorf, Bürglen is a hidden gem featuring traditional Swiss wooden chalets, lush meadows, and spectacular mountain views. Take a leisurely stroll through the village or stop at a local farm to pick up fresh cheese and dairy products—perfect for a picnic later in your journey.
     

  3. Klausen Pass Summit
    Reaching an altitude of 1,948 meters, the Klausen Pass summit is the highlight of the trip. The breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys make this a must-stop for photos and a quick coffee at the Berggasthaus Klausenpass, a cozy alpine lodge with a terrace overlooking the pass.
